Loans and reservations
Linköping university library is a research library that is open to the public.
Library card
As a student or employee at Linköping University, you use your LiU card as library card.
If you’re not a student or employee at LiU you can apply for a library card by filling out the form linked to below. Collect your card at one of the libraries information desks. This also applies for employees at the county council.

Loan period
The normal loan period for books is 21 days. However, if someone else places a request on the book the loan period is shorter, 7 days.
Renewals
Loans can be renewed ten times. Renew your books by logging in to "My loans". Books can't be renewed if someone has placed a request on the book.
Fines
When the loan period has ended you will receive an e-mail from the library suggesting that you either renew or return the loan. If you fail to do this you are charged a fee. More information is found under the heading “Demand notices and liability” in the Rules and Regulations

Reservations
If a book is checked out it is possible to put a hold on it by making a reservation. To do this click “Place hold” in the library catalogue. When the book is available to collect, an e-mail is sent. Books are available on the pick-up shelf for four days.
We also send books that are available between our libraries. If you want a book to be sent click “place hold” in the catalogue and choose the library that you want to collect it at. Books are sent between the libraries every weekday.
Material from our stacks
Bokladan is the library stacks. To see what kind of material you can find in our stacks, please see this page. Dissertations, student theses and reports in Bokladan can be ordered by placing holds in the library catalogue.
Photocopies of Bokladan material can be requested at a cost of 40 SEK for employees, students get them for free. To order copies click on this link.
