Publish and register at Linköping University

As a student or researcher at Linköping University you can publish at Linköping University Electronic Press (LiU E-Press). The majority of publications written at Linköping University are registered in DiVA (Digitala Vetenskapliga Arkivet, approximately translates to "Digital Scientific Research Archive".

At LiU E-Press, you can publish a wide range of full text publication types, including dissertations, theses, research articles, conference proceedings, longitudinal databases and series.

Student theses

If you are writing a student thesis at LiU, it should normally be published electronically, unless this is prevented by copyright issues. Generally, there are no copyright issues, as long as the work is not confidential.

Doctoral and licentiate dissertations

Linköping University allows two types of dissertations:

  • monographs, which are published in full
  • introductions/summaries plus a collection of published articles

Administration of ISBN and dissertation numbers

Dissertations and books published at Linköping University receive an ISBN. Dissertations are also given a number in the dissertation series it is part of. To get these numbers we need the following information from you:

  • Your name
  • Your year of birth
  • The title of the dissertation
  • Date of public defence
  • Publishing department
  • The Series it is to be published in (e.g. Linköping Studies in Science and Technology Dissertations)

Deliver your dissertation to Linköping University Library

A dissertation published at LiU is to be delivered in 10 copies to the Library. For a dissertation not published electronically please deliver 40 copies. A licentiate thesis in 3 copies.


ISSN is assigned to journals, magazines and yearbooks and provides a unique identification of the publication. For more information see ISSN Sverige at The National Library of Sweden.
